As i share my journey with you's all i am bound to have some people comment on my posts, this wake period i had 2 commenters, 1 i appreciated, the other was insulting and pontifical, the latter i hope to be free of after using the block feature, i have THREE people blocked now haha

1. I am approaching the bible not from a believer's POV, but as an extremely interested person who is close to it's target audience.

2. I wish to get the inside scoop as it were, and i see that largely being contained in the commentaries, most notably in recent scholarship.

3. It is also a way to feel closer to my late mom, who had an abiding love for the sacred volume.

4. It's something i've invested in, and will therefore continue to invest in, the die is cast, i've crossed the rubicon and shall wade through the commentaries till my earthly sojourn is at an end.

5. I value refreshing ways to look at it, which also informs general thinking processes. A cornucopia of interpretation is looked forward to, not just one way, even my favorite theological stance (Reformed) isn't sufficient to keep the appetite up, i want to escape into the time of the texts, to daydream about those distant times, along with the issues and topics they convey.

6. I'm an inveterate collector, i've gone through stages of collecting, commentaries is the last of them, the culmination of all previous collecting.

7. It is my wish to fill my mind with the kind of literature a pastor would read to prepare sermons or a seminary student mastering stuff like certain books. This point is related to the inside scoop part above in #2.

8. I pledge most solemnly not to preach or teach, or tell anyone here what to think or believe, even if i become a self conscious believer, i don't believe that is how communicating about it is like, but through a manner of living, that could be tricky to portray through words alone.

9. There are general things that i feel this grand study can equip me with that would be worthwhile to share in earnest, which would be different than mere reportage of what is being read and so on, my previous post about understanding could be seen as an example of that.

10. Covet not thy neighbor's ass.

I don't see the issue, you're not hurting anyone, some feel a calling by SpongeBob quotes, others by the Bible, who's to say what we like and prefer. Have a good day.
