Is it bad that I put others first before myself?

So, a few weeks ago. I sorta won quite a bit of money, and the first thing I thought....buy a new oven for the kitchen, replace the fridge. My brother looked at me, told me is that what you want or what we need? He told me that I should spend the money on myself not the household. He suggested a drone, or a PS5

So, I just put the money the vault and a thought occurred to me that ...is it bad I put others needs before my own?
