Do you know how many miles per second light travels?

LOL!

Many a trued word spoken in jest!

Though I think it would have worked better if whoever created that had not mixed up the units, for "m" is the standard abbreviation for the metre as well as used commonly for the mile!

Speed of light in vacuo = 2.998 X 10^8 m/s = (approx) 186 000 miles/s.

Speed of sound in air at 20ºC = 3.436 X 10^2 m/s = 344metres/s rounded,

= approx.770miles/hr. (It varies with temperature and pressure, hence density).

The converter I have seems to have been written in America, and gives "mi" as the abbreviation for the mile. I have never seen that in British use, where road speeds are abbreviated to "mph".
