This and that

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

This is the guy who did a Bhagavad-Gita that i have, somewhere, it's lost but not gone, i know i know it's in my heart!!! This guy is cemented in my mind with hippies, ISKCON, Hare Krishna ... i'll always think of a documentary our family watched a few decades ago that told of child abuse in one of those related places, and another cultural reference is in Airplane with the Hare Krishnas in the airport. .... And i see a bit of a guy named Jeffrey Armstrong, who seems a little like that Heaven's Gate leader, but less wacky.

The Internet Sacred Text Archive is wonderful to fill in the gaps of my Hinduism collection, and there's other interesting material there too like a history of the devil. In the section Evil.

The translation of the Mahabharata i'm reading is by Kisari Mohan Ganguli, the first complete in english in the late 1800's. The Bibek Debroy version is of the Critical Edition, and leaves out some stuff, as i observed in his introductory remarks in Ramayama, that there's been some excisions.
