Why the hell are commercials so loud? 😐

Since around the mid-eighties TV stations have routinely increased the gain on the volume of adverts so they are louder than the program, because advertisers became aware that people go to the loo or get a snack when the adverts are on. It’s so viewers have no choice by to continue to hear the advert even if they can’t see it. Some TV manufacturers have installed an override, which detects the increase in gain and reduce the volume accordingly.

@Miklee02 Sony often have gain detection systems. Mine does and it’s SUCH A RELIEF!
