Less than an hour till MOVIE TIME
To eat up a few minute allow me to yammer about my collection and my last years.
THE STAGES
1st stage
Asian films and anime
* Asian cinema is the cinematic location of a rebirth of the passion for film for me, a huge chunk of these were for example influential for directors like Tarantino, these are like the sources, and i vastly prefer the source over the aftermath stuff.
* Japan has the most, and i hope to reach a 1,000 Japanese films, currently i'm around 200, so 800 to get before i bite the bullet.
* China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea make up the rest of the principal countries in what i term Asian. I should get some education, is it Far East Asian i'm talking about? Something like that.
2nd stage
Foreign & silent films
* as with Asian films, films with subtitles are a pure joy to watch, it's something like riding a bicycle. Things just naturally feel better in another language and you have to read what they're saying.
3rd stage
Films in english
* if i ever get to this stage there will be a lot to cover, and a lot that will cause offense to my family members, because swearing, and taking the Lord's name in vain is taboo here, but it is my hope to have in the previous stages paved the way for an acceptance of the secular.
In each stage there will be honorific splurges for new stuff, but the overriding concern is to watch the entire collection, which i hope to at least double the size of as it is now at the end.
Cinema is an artistic version of Life, as in life there is everything rolled up in it, in an environment where the people living under the roof think that some things are wrong and have to be ignored at all costs, as if that really does any good, there is a paradoxical nature to my adventure, something absurdly adventurous. Seen in specific ways, this is like death defying feats to watch my films in the living room.
