Is it okay to be nervous?

I get about 2-3 massages each year because I really enjoy them and they are very relaxing. Well, the massage therapist I normally go to stopped doing them, which I am disappointed.

I have been to different massage therapist since she quit, but I haven't found one I really like.

I am scheduled to go to another new one in a month and I am kind of nervous. She has only been a massage therapist for about 9 months, so she is young. I am nervous because I am afraid I am going to get a boner. Quite often, when I get massages, I get a boner and I don't know why. Is that bad? What will this young new massage therapist will think or do if I get one when she is giving me a massage?

About the nervousness from being afraid. Don't be afraid, and then you won't be nervous. Just relax, and envision a seashore. Breathe in as the waves break onto the shore, and exhale as the water goes back out to sea. Water in, breathe in- water out, breathe out. I've been getting massages for over 40 years, and have been a Therapist for over 30. I will still be apprehensive a bit when I visit a new therapist.

About it being bad. It's not "good" or "bad"- it's just life and it just "is". Not knowing why it happens? That is a bit of a surprise, though.

About an MT with 9 months in the field. At least they haven't had time to build up any bad habits. I was doing very good massages before I graduated Massage School. The thing is that I had to still think about what I was doing to do it. After about 3-4 years doing massage, THEN it became very automatic, and I could chat (if the client wanted to) while doing the massage. Kind of like when a piano player at a nightclub has the muscle memory to play a song even while talking up a storm with the guests, so it is with massage for me.

Pretty normal. She may think that's a compliment for her. It's happened to me before.

@cracklover97 because she knows you like it.
