SomeMichGuy says:
I think you are training them not to defecate normally.
And I reply:
Remarks like that are almost funny, given M's history and all those doctor/hospital appointments of her younger years as we tried to find a physical explanation for why, regardless of diet, she couldn't empty her dirt-chute frequently and copiously....oh, what am I up to, feeding the trolls!

@SuziSatan02 Also adding the irritant substance is a good idea if you have a kid who's an incomplete-emptier - and by keeping score, paying attention to what they eat as well as how much they do, you can tell when they haven't done enough dooeys recently and it's time to put something in them to make sure they do a big one.
Example - June 2nd - M did a big dooey after I'd inserted a soap suppository and some ginger paste. It needed a full-nastiness mum-and-grandparents attack, but it paid off.

It’s very important to let kids not withhold Poo.
So I would administer a soap enema if they withholding more then 2-3 days.

On another forum I read that, as a child, after the author had been given a suppository his parents were "staring at his bottom to see when it was taking effect". I don't know whether that meant he was coerced into some unusual shitting-position, or it just meant he was kept locked in position, over the knee, for some minutes after the insertion, with his parents watching for physical signs that he was about to do. Which, I guess, makes some sense, butt they might just have well have kept a finger up his dua for some minutes until they were sure that the suppository was starting to melt.

A soap suds enema or DSulcolax suppository work well.
