Then she said seeing my dad beat my mom as a child has led me to believe that no man is ever going to treat me well. Haha I never even thought about that until today.

It could well be the case. Similarly it could not be the case, but it's worth exploring. EMDR is meant to reduce the impact of negative/traumatic memories. At worst you'll get to watch some lights moving back and forward and you can pretend it's a rerun of Knight Rider 🚘

It could very well have contributed to that. I have no experience with EMDR myself, but heard it's very effective. I did try to get it, but was only offered CBT. 😒
