My therapist told me that the way people perceive us, or whether they like or dislike us, is out of our control

And I strongly disagree. I gave her an example of the way public figures manipulate their image to be perceived a certain way, to gain votes, or favours, etc...., and I told her that in a capitalistic world, it's very important that I understand how to do this.

And she told me that it's not true???
Huh??? You want me to pay you 11dollars per session to lie to me just because you don't have answers to my questions??? Don't bulls.hit me lady!

You're not a public figure, and capitalism is a theory not a current reality. If you don't believe me about the latter, you could visit North Korea or Cuba, and see for yourself.

It would be a good bet that neither public-figure status nor a capitalistic world is going to become a reality during your mortal existence.

Because the entire premise of your argument is false, your position is without sound foundation. Using your time with your therapist to argue in this way is a waste, and it is you who chose to waste your time and money that way.

If you don't find value in your current therapy relationship, find a new therapist or try something else.

You seem a bit to personally offended by me arguing with my therapist lol. And no, you didn't understand my stance at all.
Also, an "example" does not equate to the entirety of my point. Lol. You are a figure of significance in your own way in different situations, especially when dealing with people.
Your narrow-minded approach to my argument already drained the meaning from your words.
Anyway, have a good day.
