Delusional much?

Recently attended the North American Stadium Tour.

We all age certainly but I guess I bought a ticket with thoughts of a younger Vince. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, typically rock stars end up aging pretty bad. Of course the normal weight gain and getting older but a lot of drugs and booze.
With some music, it is not JUST the music but the whole image that comes with the bands.

It is sad when AARP aged bands are still trying to be "Cool"
But they desperately cling to that image even when they look like Grandpa Moses.

@CestManan I agree. There were however other bands from the same era. Joan Jett kicked ass anyways. Hallmarks your " a lot of drugs and booze" as Vinces downfall.

@Punxi Female musicians tend not to age as quickly I think because they tend to get tons of plastic surgery.

If someone was not around in the 80's to see it they might not believe that back then those rock stars were awesome, sexy, basically Gods and Goddesses. I wouldn't believe it if I had not seen it.

Just wait another 15 or so years when today's sex symbols in music start looking like hell.
I have no clue who is popular right now.

@CestManan You're right. All the bands there, in their prime; was a bit before I was born. Save YouTube their live performances back then would not exist to me.

Haha...I could care less whos popular right now. Born in the wrong decade.

@Punxi I hear a lot of younger folks say they prefer yesteryear's music. I guess it really was better back then. Maybe music really did peak in quality in the 80's?
Thing is though, back in the 80's we never cared much for OUR parent's music. We had radio stations that played 50's and 60's and it just mostly sounded like crap.

@CestManan haha...my mom was ( still is a disco fan...lol) Guess maybe depending on your taste in music. Im a rock fan so lots of 80s bands...but the 90s as well. Something happened somewheres along the line as now catchy pop kinda rules the airwaves. Classic Rock, not new remains its competitor.

@Punxi I think what it is - it is probably cheaper and easier for the record labels to find talentless hacks and just sort of morph them into some kind of image rather than having to scout for actual talent.

@CestManan Find a pretty girl...or a group of boys, hire a song writer, auto tune their vocals and win a Grammy. 🤷‍♀️

@Punxi Young pretty women are a dime a dozen.

At one point though musicians had to fight like hell to make it and would not usually even be taken serious until they had been active for about a decade.
Some of them faced multiple rejections, were treated like a joke at first, etc.

Well like get this - When Prince first started, he was often opening for other bands. He usually got "boo'ed" off the stage. Sometimes people threw stuff at him to chase him off. But look at the career he eventually made not only for himself but other musicians. There were even copycat versions of Prince.

@CestManan Yep. Sad but you're right. I've read several bios bout some of the groups I like. Like all familiar in ways of living in vans and endlessly hungry. Being actual musicians of coursebut maybe was those hardships that lent them the soul they played with..

That's quite cool of you to pick him. Big fan. May be a singular exception to a genre I dont care for. Have seen early interviews of Prince where as he could barely look in the camera. But perhaps one of the best musicians in a century.

@Punxi I listen to a lot of old American Top 40 reruns from the '80s and the host, Casey Kasem, would tell short stories about how some bands had to struggle or how they got discovered or whatever. Of course it was mostly music but sometimes before a particular song would play he would tell a short story

@CestManan Very cool. Im about to find thes on YouTube hopefully.
@CestManan unless you’re Iggy Pop
