What do you think about the Novak Djokavic situation in Australia?

He's being deported after eleven days in country.

I'll give you the exact story:
1. He did everything asked of him by Tennis Australia, the Victorian state government and was granted a visa by the federal government. He had approval by two medical panels and was therefore liable to enter.
2. He tweeted that he was coming and the media picked it up and created a ruckus about one rule for privileged people and another for the rest of us. Outrage sells.
3. The national government who are currently being criticised for mismanaging a number of things saw an opportunity to grab some headlines as a distraction, and when Djokavic was en route they overnight changed policy, made statements in the media. For two years the exception had been allowed, overnight it was gone.
4. The courts overturned the government decision.
5. Djokovic was shown up to be dishonest in two areas of his application and so this really settled his fate.
6. The relevant minister delayed the ministerial decision to time it with the news cycle and hope they didn't have time to launch an appeal. The appeal happened but failed.
I think a) He probably would have been ok if he didn't lie on his application and tweet that he was coming. b) The government needed media distraction because they've stuffed up COVID management.
