What if everything still ran on vacuum tubes?

What would the world look like today?

even hotter than it is. when i worked in educational TV, in the early 1960s, you had to strip down to no more than underwear to work in the technical room it was so hot from all of the tubes.

I know, I work on Tube radio and still do work on them. Like my Drake, Johnsons, Valkyrie VT-1, Aurora TubeTron X, and a few Tram and Robyn CB radios in the mix

@HumanEarth I built my sound system as a kid, Eicos and Healthkits. Do you use them now for your system? At my age, i can't really tell the quality the way I used to. I am impressed with the sound from Alexa. My car system is supposed to be spectacular, but sadly, even with adjusting the frequencies, it doesn't sound that much better than the base system.

I'm a amateur radio extra and in the early days to pass the test you had to know tube gear

@HumanEarth what is an amateur radio extra?
HumanEarth · F
An Amateur Radio Extra is the highest class of amateur radio license in the United States, granting operators full privileges on all frequencies allocated to the Amateur Service. To obtain this license, individuals must pass a 50-question written exam covering advanced electronics theory, operating practices, and regulations.

This straight from today's website

@HumanEarth is it equivalent to the ham radios of the 50s and 60s?
HumanEarth · F
Yes, bit today's ham radio exam is nothing like it was 40 years plus ago. In my eyes, its a cake walk compared to what I had to learn to get my novice license ham radio license back in the day
