why is technology speeding up so fast now

i can't keep up and don't want to...i still have an iphone 14 pro....use an outdated version of windows.......they just seem to be bringing out newer versions of computers programs and smartphones regularly now...and just updating everything we rely on constantly...where will it lead? i hate it and hate these companies....i hate the very idea of updating...why can't we stick with what works for us?

I do not have a smart phone, I am happy running windows 10.
Constant upgrades are the bane of my existence.
