i was just looking at pictures posted by a friend who is presently in Angkor Wat and I had a good idea...

i'm sure this already exists since I am not very knowledgeable about technology but, imagine visiting Angkor Wat, or any other archeological site, wearing glasses that have some sort of augmented reality and you could see the site as it once was. like when you'd look at a structure you could see it as it was when it was new, imagined using all we know about the place. wouldn't that be awesome ? !! I've seen so many archeological sites all over the world but its hard to visualize what they were like back then.

Nice idea. Trouble is that when you extrapolate with the available information, there are infinite possibilities. So with the infinite options of what things were like back then, no AI can give an accurate picture. And our imagination also gets influenced by how others have depicted the past.
For example, can you imagine the body type of Cleopatra without thinking of the complexion, cleavage, frame and face of Ms E Taylor? 😃
Don’t know if it exists but it’s a cool idea!
