I saw an item produced for a unit of the University of Michigan by a "design" person who had rigid rules about things like "no bullet points", etc.
The design was useless and uninformed with regard to the text and especially unaware of the formatting of text, itself.
As it was an informational packet about a graduate area of study which
a) draws students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and
b) prepares them for a range of opportunities afterwards,
this was a self-indulgent fail.
Oh, and huge expanses of each page were the vast white borders around tiny squares of unformatted text.
