How far out do you swim in the ocean?

I go pretty far past sand bars

Not very far. I try to avoid sharks and jellyfish.

One time, when I was young, I lived in Florida. I had a few drinks, got on a raft, and closed my eyes and floated. My hands were dangling off the sides, and I was jolted because I felt one had was suddenly ice cold and the other was warm. I looked, and realized I had floated past the sandbar. At that moment, something big bumped under my raft, and a big wave came, and I paddled as hard as I could to get back to shore. I was so stupid for getting a buzz and going in the water without paying proper attention to how far out I had gone!
