Lonely, not alone. Plenty have people around them but they want attention from someone else or from a higher number of people.
Also, some people are just addicted to numbers and rewards. Each like or reaction means a reward to them, triggering dopamine release. It's not about a meaningful interaction, it's purely about numbers. The higher number, the more successful they feel and when it got monetized, the emotional reward turned into something real, the real way how to earn money and to sustain oneself.
