Melancholy in check

It’s difficult to keep my melancholy in check…particularly with wine in my bloodstream. I wonder why that happens. Tequila, whiskey, vodka, beer…I’m fine. But if I overindulge in wine, I pass the point of laughter and fall deep into a well of self-pity. It’s not pretty. Sigh. Thank goodness it doesn’t continue after the alcohol dissipates.

I call that ‘the wine curve’ … almost like a graph, the way feelings go for a ride. I posted about it here a million years ago, lol.

I know what you’re saying and wine is definitely like that, unlike other drinks. I hope you are well 🤗

@CCMorgan It’s good to know I’m not alone in the way it affects me. Thank you.

I believe the phrase is In vino Veritas. "In wine.....truth." You may be pouring out a bit of your soul, stimulated by grapes grown from the ancient soil.

@Freeranger You may have a good point there.

"In vino veritas", that's the problem. 😐

I think it was Edgar Alan Poe that said "melancholy is the only pure emotion"
