I keep thinking about the time when I was still married. And when I’m not thinking about it, I dream about it. Life was more stable then. All I had to do was ask, and I would get what I wanted. But it wasn’t the life I wanted to live. So I made the difficult decision to leave, and I’ve been picking up the pieces, one by one.
I understand the grieving part. I am also grieving the life I thought I would have, the youth I have lost, and grieving for a child that could have been born. But I am also grateful that we can choose to be a better versions of ourselves, right here, right now.
I wish you all the best.

Although I didn't do drugs and alcohol, I've made some poor choices and I grieve the life I had before but I did not appreciate what I had at the time-- I couldn't cope with the obstacles or challenges I had at that time in my life. So I understand your sentiment because there were many good parts to my life back then...somehow I couldn't cope with the stressors

@Mindful I’ve been feeling it for a long time. Lately more than ever. I bought a video game console. As a means to cope and try to dissociate from the mental turmoil I’m feeling. And also just for a side hobby. But I feel alone and empty. I pick up the controller and think I’m gonna find relief only to feel pain. I’m torn

@LifeVoice101 my life is "restored" but I still grieve what I've lost...I'm galas you found a game console... I've tried reading books... watching TV ... it still hurts at times. It's my bedtime. Good nite.

So sorry for your pain. But I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. The upside is that you have learnt some good lessons (albeit the hard way) and there is a world of infinite possibilities still available to you. You are young still and when the grieving passes (as it will) your heart will be open again. There is something/someone out there for you if you change your ways and let it happen. Wishing you love and happiness 🤗
