How do you train your child to stand up to bullies?

I think the only way is showing your child how you stood up? I know my father was, maybe not by bullies in the traditional sense, but he was fostered at the age of 5, and I understood how he deeply he had to stand up for himself, that I know how to stand up for myself, my values, who I am, and have learned also when it's time to not because that is also standing up for yourself when you can let the hogwash of society just be gone.
