Why do some of the most intelligent, kind and attractive people get bullied?

I don't need a lecture like I'm a ding dong, just curious about different perspectives.

I was bullied hard as a kid. I'm kinda sick of hearing it's because I was too nice, or I didn't fight back... It ultimately wasn't about me really... I feel like that's just some shit bullies say.

I want to know why the bullies did it, without blaming the ones who get bullied.

Good likelihood it was modeled for them at home, bullied by parent(s) themselves and/or watched them bully others. Bullies generally have poor self esteem and think they’ll feel like “more” by making someone else feel like “less.” And are often just downright angry and are looking for a punching bag.
