He Said Come, Not Carry - God’s Answer Isn’t “Try Harder.” It’s “Come To Me.
God wants us to stop fixing, and start listening. The blood of Jesus carries all the power needed. He doesn't need our help. He is perfectly able to take care of our needs but we must ask in faith, trusting...and by trusting him, we are allowing him to work on our behalf.
How many times do you hear God say “fix this” in the Bible?
None that I know of.
But how many times does He say “Listen”? “Come to Me”? “Cast your cares on Me”?
All the time.
Isaiah 43:16, 19 says: This is what the Lord says—he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters... See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
That's HOPE. God is telling His people --- even when it looks like there’s no path, no door, no answer --- He makes the way. Just like He parted the Red Sea...He makes a way where there seems to be no way.
God never intended for us to carry the weight of this world on our shoulders. He knew we would get tired. He knew we would get overwhelmed. He knew we would try to figure it out, fix it, and make it right on our own.
And that’s when He gently calls us back.
Matthew 11:28 says: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
He doesn’t say, “Come to me after you’ve cleaned yourself up.”
He doesn’t say, “Come to me after you’ve solved your problems.”
He just says, "Come."
1 Peter 5:7 says: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
All of it. The money worries. The family burdens. The health fears. The things you don’t even have words for. He says bring it to Me.
Psalm 55:22 says: Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Notice what He didn’t say. He didn’t say “try harder.” He didn’t say “figure it out first.” He said, "Let Me sustain you."
Proverbs 3:5-6 says: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Fixing isn’t our job. Trusting is. Listening is. Turning is.
For years, I had tried to fix everything myself, to figure it all out and basically not trusting God but myself to try and fix everything. I would get ahead of him and that never worked. That's me trying to fix my problems; not allowing God to help me and trust him to fix them for me. I was in a hurry to get things resolved and by doing so, I was not resting and trusting in Him OR His timing. His timing is always the best. That is not trusting God, when you try to fix things yourself. We cannot pray for God's help and then turn right around and try to remedy everything ourselves. That never works. When we give things over to Jesus, that builds our faith and trust in him.
So this morning, whatever is heavy on your heart...stop trying to carry it alone. Turn to Him. Listen for His voice. Let Him handle what only He can handle.
You are not alone in this.
Your Father sees you. He loves you. And He is more than able.
Isaiah 41:10 says: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Listen. Come. Rest.
He’s waiting. Let it go after you pray, and let God work on your behalf. That's trust.
