When Your Soul Needs Peace and To Be Heard

"God is our refuge and our strength...a very present help in times of trouble." Psalm 46:1

This powerful promise offers comfort that God is an immediate source of safety and power for you; whether in good times or during your toughest times.

God is Not Distant from Ordinary Human Living

I am here to testify that God always has kept his promises to me, since I first dedicated my life to him, some 53 years ago. I have suffered too, and I found Someone faithful through it. Jesus Christ is not only present in dramatic crises, but also in our ongoing day-to-day walk of life. He will do the same for you, providing safety, stability, and the necessary strength to endure life’s worst storms.

Through all those years, God taught me that He supplies inner power and endurance... helping us bear up, under pressure. He has always been my ever-present help, strength and refuge; not a distant mystery I could not relate to, but a real friend, in every way. I learned He was immediately available for me, 24/7...who never sleeps, and is "very present" in my exact moment of need.

The Bible says there is no fear in perfect love, and I must tell you that God's love is perfect. His personality is that HE is perfect, in every way. His character is that he cannot lie. He doesn't make mistakes. I can vouch that he is totally trustworthy in keeping his word and promises. Because of Jesus, I learned and was encouraged not to fear nor give up; even in the face of significant chaos, abuse, or uncertainty. Why?

Because when you know you can really count on Him, and you know He is no liar, faith comes much easier and so does that peace we seek that passes all understanding, when we abide in Him.

Notice that word abide. That means when troubles come, you can run to Jesus. You can face them head on, because faith says He will give you the strength to get through all of them, and He does. I'm living proof of that. I didn't get strong by not exercising my faith! And one thing I know from reading God’s perfect Word, is that God never gave us a spirit of fear; but of love, and a sound mind. ( 2nd Timothy 1:7). That's exactly why I've gotten through life at my age. When I found Jesus and invited him into my heart and life as my Lord and Savior, He that gave me the strength to get through it all.

I can honestly say that he's never let me down. That doesn't mean I get my way for everything I pray to God about. I would never learn that way. That won't grow anyone's faith. You have to exercise it and then you will see that God keeps His word. You can't grow a strong faith if you never exercise it. That's what faith is. Stepping forth and trusting God to keep his promises to do what he said he will do, before you even know the outcome. I can vouch that He does.

Faith is expecting God to keep his word, knowing he will, and you can only know that he will, if you follow him closely in your daily life. Not just on Sunday, not just once a week or whenever you feel you need help. God is not some kind of spiritual "Genie" we can call upon only when we need something from him. He won't be treated that way, and I sure can't blame him. He's the real deal. Someone who deserves all the respect in the world. Not someone to be dishonest with. I'm talking about Almighty God of this universe. The only Mediator between God and man. 1 Timothy 2:5

When someone dies, they are still a person, though spiritually resurrected and transformed.

Sometimes we treat him as if he's a "thing" instead of our born Lord and Savior...just there for our every beck and call, when we think we need him. He wants to experience real fellowship with us, though we sometimes ignore him as merely a passing thought, as if he's not even there. However, our born and risen Savior is a real person, who gave His very life for us - not an impersonal force, an abstract energy, or merely a historical figure. He became human, lived among us, suffered, loved, wept, and still remains personal and present in our everyday lives. He understands humanity from the inside, not from a distance. He came to save us from the condemnation sin placed on us, but he can't do that, if you won't allow him to save you.

You might say 'well why doesn't he just save everyone then, and let them be in heaven with him, since he claims to love everyone?' And that's a very good question, but guess what. Not everyone loves and respects him for who He is and what He did for us on the cross.

That's where "choice" comes in, and why that matters. Not everyone "wants" Jesus. Not everyone realizes who Jesus is and why he came. Just look at how many mocked, laughed at, spit upon, beat, and cursed Jesus, even as he hung on the cross. And those were the very people that Jesus came to save, yet they rejected him. He preached salvation throughout the land, but some wanted nothing to do with him.

As much as Jesus wants to save every person on earth and have them spend eternity in heaven, when people tell him 'No! I want nothing to do with you!', that forces him to honor your choice. He will not step outside your boundaries. That's why Jesus invites us to come to him. So he can save us from the sin that wants to condemn us, but love still allows choice. Rejecting his offered salvation will break his heart, but he will honor whatever you decide.

Whatever your choice, if you leave your soul up to chance without protecting it from the evils in this world, this forfeits your soul to a place you will not want to go. Unforgiven sin cannot enter a holy heaven. This is why Jesus told us, "please make your choice now, so I can save you and give you a secure place for eternity." However, if you're not willing to allow him to rescue you, you've just tied his hands to save your soul from the condemnation that sin placed on you, not God. But don't forget.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

The foundation of our faith and hope, lies in God's promises from Scripture, emphasizing His eternal love, mercy, and forgiveness...always active, always present, always listening, always supportive, always encouraging people to turn to Him for comfort, stability, and power when they are overwhelmed.

"When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him." Psalm 107:6
