Held Safe in His Arms: Finding Comfort and Hope, in the Midst of Pain

Genesis 28:15 - "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."

Genesis 28:15 is not merely a historical promise to Jacob; it is a living, breathing assurance to each of us today. As we reflect on this verse, let us walk in the confidence of God’s presence, protection, provision, and promise, knowing that He is with us, will keep us, will bring us through, and will not leave us until He has accomplished His purpose in our lives.

In Genesis 28:15, we find a profound promise from God to Jacob. A promise that not only speaks to Jacob's personal journey, but also to the journey of every believer. Let's explore how God's promises apply to us today:

God's Presence: "I am with you"

First, God promises His unending presence: "I am with you." This assurance was given to Jacob at a critical juncture in his life, as he fled from his brother Esau and faced an uncertain future. Similarly, we encounter moments of fear, uncertainty, and loneliness. Yet, God's promise to be with Jacob, is also a promise to us. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus made this commitment, saying, "I am with you always, even to the end of the world." God's presence is not a mere concept; it's a living reality that sustains, comforts, and guides us through every season of life.

God's Protection: "I will keep you wherever you go."

God not only promises His presence, but also His protection: "will keep you wherever you go.", does not imply that believers will be exempt from difficulties. Rather, it assures us of God's protective care in the midst of challenges. Just as God protected Jacob on his journey, guiding and guarding him against harm, He promises to protect us.

God's provision for Jacob was specific:

"I will bring you back to this land." It was a promise of return and restoration. For us, this speaks to God’s provision and His ability to fulfill His promises in our lives. God has a plan and purpose for each of us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Our "land" may represent fulfilled promises, restored relationships, or realized dreams. Trusting in God's provision means believing that He will complete the work He has started in our lives.

A Message From God to You

"Today, let Me, your God, show you my ways.

When you trust in Me, and follow me, then you will have peace.

You will have courage to go where I take you.

And my ways will become your ways.

Each day as you place your trust in me, praying to Me and seeking me, you will find me.

From the time you awake, to the time you lay your head down to sleep, I am watching over you. I will never leave you.

There is nowhere that you can go that my love and peace will not be.

My thoughts for you are so many that they outnumber the grains of sand on the beach.

My love you for you is so immense that it is larger than all the oceans of the world. It is deeper than the greatest depths of all the seas.

No matter where you go, I will keep you and be with you."

Embrace God's Presence

In moments of loneliness or despair, remind yourself that God is with you. Seek to cultivate a deeper awareness of His presence through prayer and meditation on His Word.

May He, who knows and numbers His sheep, always keep you safe.

With love,

Grace
