Is it ok to feel jealous of other people?

I feel jealous of other people’s success and really have to pretend to be happy for them. It feels like bad stuff happens to me more than everyone else and I do really struggle with how I think about things.

I’m jealous of other peoples’ beach houses but I'm not insincere in being happy for others .. i don't have the most fortunate life but I'm not most unfortunate either .. there’s an old saying “count your blessings” i think it means to focus on the good you do have and be thankful and not just focus on what you don't have tho in some cases you can make an effort to better your life and standing if you feel the need to do so..

Yeah, I know you’re right and I am pretty blessed, I suppose I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of time being not a great person and other people around me just have more friends and success now. But, yep I’ll try to look around at what I have and work from there. Thanks as always. @YoMomma

@Strongtea you have your youth and your gf and you mom and aunt in your life.. i’m at the age where everyones’ moms are dying already and it’s sad for them .. you don't have to worry about that stuff .. you have your fitness and probably your hair you should probably focus on occupation and what you want to do in life.. don't worry about number of friends just sincerity

I know that I have a lot to be positive about and I should definitely think about it all a lot more. You know I can sometimes get caught up in material things and what I wear etc. Thanks for pointing out the good things. 😊@YoMomma
It's an emotion. Emotions are human. It can happen.
But that doesn't mean what you feel is real and correct.
Often time, you're jealous of illusions. And if u can focus more on u, the better you can feel and fix ur situation and the jealousy would go away. Probably. Idk

Maybe seek some mental health support. It’s a negative mindset. External locus of control. Over time could lead to depression anxiety or other issues.

Yes, I think you’re right, I’ve had these kind of feelings for a long time and it did lead to me being mean to people in school.@DoubleRings

That is a you problem but it's valid.

Thanks, it feels like I have a lot to do, but at least I want to change, a few years ago I was totally oblivious to how I was acting/feeling. @Wallflow3r

@Strongtea I used to be like that a long time ago but now I've traded my jealousy for inspiration and admiration. ☺

You seem like a super cool person and your advice is always really helpful. I’ll try my hardest to trade my jealousy for better traits too! 😊@Wallflow3r
