Biggest struggle in my life and overcame it

Biggest struggle in my life was a loss of my left leg below the knee. It was during my 3rd tour in Iraq while in the Marines, I was shot in the lower left leg and the bullet went into the bone shattering it which the only option was amputation. I had great care in a hospital in Germany where the amputation happened which infection was also found. Worst part was seeing my lower left leg gone seeing a stump. It got worse after I came home, I was in the dumps getting around with crutches. Was 24 years old at the time and my family saw I needed help. Therapist I saw was a great help encouraging me to keep a positive spirit saying I will walk again with wearing a prosthetic leg. Plus a great group, Wounded Warrior Project which my oldest brother contacted has been a great help. They helped my family as well. VA was not a good help at first on getting me a couple prosthetic legs. Seeing a lawyer gave them a wake up call and set me up to get a couple prosthetic legs. I overcame everything after seeing my two new prosthetic legs, one with a foot that is adjustable so I could wear my high heeled shoes and a regular one. Started getting used to wearing them knowing I could walk again. Biggest help was support from my family and friends including a 5th grade teacher and her class during my recovery. It taught me realizing I still had a life ahead of me and needed to learn putting this behind me which I did.
