A lesson I wish I’d learned earlier.

Do not put more energy into a relationship than you are receiving. Be it a friendship, romantic partner or whatever. It is not worth the pain it will cause you. People will take you for granted. Be kind to yourself.

It’s not that straightforward. Sometimes what you put in comes back multiplied. Maybe the other person is feeling the same. It takes like minded people to get along.
