these are stairs in one of the tenement houses in my city. they're practically totally vertical.

EDIT, so you don't have to read all the comments 😀: building is NOT abandoned, people are still living there, but as far as I remember there's only one flat on the second floor, so at least not a lot of people have to use the death stairs. the house was built by Germans, back when this city was a part of Germany (until the end of WW2). that house, like a few others in the area, was probably built for train station workers and their families, so that makes sense, that they wanted to make as many flats as possible and didn't necessarily care about things like stairs. people that are living there now are probably the next generations of families that came to Szczecin right after the war, they're also probably the ones with the lowest income, so there's really almost no chance that they're gonna be able to renovate the building.
