Wait until everything falls so we will gather to survive together instead.

Screw everything right now

In the U.S. the car-centered transit systems creates wastelands where people can't congregate. Freeways, traffic jams and streets crowded with cars prevent people from being outdoors, riding bikes, walking in car-free plazas. Spend some time in other countries and this becomes apparent.
While we think often we have less now, while with often more riches, I think we are entering a time when we have too much time. Who wants collecting wood for fire? Who wants to write a letter? Heck, who even wants to make a phone call? Most people can't even manage an e-mail now outside business, to keep up basic respect of friendship or more importantly family, while the gas pump and bills add up. With lack of social connection, we lose meaning and value. Most people are overwhelmed, looking for distractions away. Then the questions become, all the things before that made community once happen, are stripped away, and we question why the world is the way it is now, I think the proof is in the pudding - we've mangled how people connect for what convenience? I'd be bored, too.

perhaps affordable meaningful hobbies, ideally involving physical activity outdoors

Go to your nearest police station strip all your clothes off and run out of the station naked and down the street to your car to see if you can get away before they arrest you!

Got it? Let me know how this changes your boredom!

Seriously I don’t get people who get bored in the 21st century

That’s truly sad & such wasted appreciation for life.
