Why is it so hard to let go?

I need to do a better job at donating clothes that I can't fit, don't wear, or bought on impulse [don't really need].

It's hard to let go of what I can't fit because I'm convinced I'll lose weight and be able to wear it again. There are some items that I have a sentimental attachment to. And the impulse purchases are past the return window.

Maybe I should consider hypnotism so I can be able to Just Let Go.

Am I alone in this? How do you break the attachment to things that aren't really serving you?

Take note of clothing items and hold onto it for a few years then if i really dont wear it i donate them and buy new clothes. Lol

I have the same issue but it’s just not limited to the clothes. I am a hoarder to no end.

Are you a hoarder in general or is it just clothes you have a problem getting rid of?
@AntisocialTroll Clothes and shoes. Hoarder seems like such a harsh term, thanks to that TV show. My situation is not THAT dire. I can move about my home with ease. Nothing is piled to the ceiling. 😬

@DreamyCrush I'm a hoarder and I comfort shop clothes amongst other things, one of the things that helps me let go off things is to buy everything I can clothes wise second hand as I find it easier to get rid of stuff I've not bought new, except for footwear and underwear nearly everything I buy is second hand, most of it is from ebay and in new condition, when it starts piling up I donate it to a charity shop and think of how pleased people will be to buy it and that I'm doing both a good thing for charity, the environment and myself at the same time.

Dunno if that helps you any but it works for me.
@AntisocialTroll Yes, I appreciate your response. Comfort shopping is an accurate description for me as well.
I have this sw account I can’t let go
