I got kicked out to our performance?

Sometimes I'm not sure if I like fame, or maybe because I expected and got disappointed.

I am in a choir, when my instructor principal told me to sing for our upcoming event. I actually informed them that I got really nervous when I sing alone. So they decided that we will have a trio performance, me, my senior choir member, and our instructor. I will also play some short piano pieces, which I already mastered and have no worries with that. Since I am not used to singing alone, they tried to give me a solo line to our choir performance a week before our final event. They have convinced me to take the solo, and in my head, I thought of it as a challenge that I need to overcome.

During my solo line, my first words are quite vague because I am shaking, but after three words, I manage to sing my line. After singing, I got compliments that they really liked my voice especially my vibrato. But I felt something weird. I think our principal didn't like my minor mistakes, or maybe it is not minor.

So the event came and I got no follow-ups regarding our trio and zero update about our event. I just found out that they remove me to performance, only my instructor and senior will sing, which is actually just a bit fine to me. But what makes me feel sad is when our principal's son played the short piano pieces instead of me.

It happens. We put the hardwork and someone else steals the show and we learn that we were on standby. A scribbling paper for others to practice writing.

@sugarpie it's a strategy many adopt and adapt.. to allow oneself to be used and then gain importance. Else we remain a white blank paper that gets old and goes off white.. 😀
