Weight loss... a year apart.

This time last year i was very overweight, but sort of in denial about the damage having a bad diet and carrying excess weight was doing to my health.
In October, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
I have since lost 3stone in weight and feel so much fitter and have heaps more energy.

These pics were taken a year to the week apart.
What a difference!!

@Mellowgirl thank you. I think the 'secret' was the fact the short, cuddly nurse ( was like looking in a mirror) who did my initial review was so horrid and judgememtal towards me. She told me to stop smoking, ( i dont smoke) cut back on my drinking and accused me of lying when i said i hardly touch alcohol. Said 'i bet you dont exercise much' when i walk everywhere, and have a very active job. I phoned a few days later to clarify a few things, was told there was no record of my consultation. She promused me a follow up call 2 weeks later to see how i was doing, and i didnt get that call.
I was determined to prove to myself I was NOT the person that nurse thought she was talking to that day.

@RubySoo Well done to you. And I hope that nurse gets the shock of her life when she sees you next.

@Mellowgirl i actually requested not to see her again...for her own safety!! I was so angry with her talking to me as she did! She almost got the slap of her life!! Lol

@Mellowgirl an update. I saw her at ny latest appointment. She said, 'we havent met before' abd i said, 'oh im sure we have' to which she said, 'no...i dont remember you at all.'
As she read my notes, i could see it dawn on her that she had done my initial review. ...lol.
But her parting shot was, 'you're almost not overweight at all anymore!'
Cheeky cow!!!

@RubySoo without being cheeky. She actually did her job.
Its not a nice way to go about it.
But you were potentially heading towards a dangerous era of your life.

It's never nice to hear criticism but in this instance it gave you the motivation to successfully lose some weight.

Try and forget the nurse for a minute.

How do you feel about yourself now?
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@Mellowgirl No, she had no right talking to anyone the way she spoke to me making the assumptions she did. None at all. She was not professionalnin anyway. The doctor i spoke with days later apologised for how id been spoken to. No record of my consultation haf been recorded, my follow up phone call didnt happen and the receptionist at the surgery would not refer me for my blood tests 3 months later because no notes had be recorded to say i was due. They wouldn't even accept from id been on meds for 3 months!
I can take criticism, and welcome advise. If she'd said 'you're fat, you eat too much crap and you dont exercise enough' ...fair enough, but to tell me i drank too much when i barely touch the stuff, and assume i sat on my arse all day long was insulting. Not acceptable. Thankfully, the docs and nurses i spoke to in the weeks following that initial consultation were far more helpful and had a nicer manner.

I feel great. Better than ive done for years because i have improved my diet and cut out the crap i did eat.
