Why relationships are so fleeting these days?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same? I feel like as I get older, relationships are getting so shallow, thin and fleeting? Why is it so hard to someone commit to another? I've been working hard on myself to not let intrusive thoughts lead me into thinking: it's my fault! When I clearly do whatever I can to keep the ones I love close to me. But people seem to not appreaciate it anymore.

i discovered the similar situation, with a woman in her 50s recently...we were communicating for years on facebook, i thought she liked me, i finally told her i liked her then she drops me and stops chatting, what i did wrong i don't know...now i realize it wasn't me but her.

@Jungleman I'm sorry that happened to you. But that's my point: It seems to me that the moment you finally open up to someone and clearly express your feelings, they vanish.
