Are more people dealing with mental health issues now more than ever?

Or is it that I wasn't aware?
I see more young people with mental illness disorders now more so than when I was growing up!
Or maybe I was sheltered!

Unfortunately it’s a tik-top type trend. Everyone who breaks up with you was a narcissist. All poor behavior was gaslighting. People who have bad days are told they’re bipolar or have personality disorders. I’m super sensitive to mental health stuff but these folks will never do anything outside their comfort zone for fear of being triggered.

My life would be so different if I didn’t constantly push myself outside of my comfort zone. I definitely wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am today 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they were more of a hush hush issue in the past.

Perhaps in the past it was never dealt with.

People may have been more apt to just say, "That's life. Deal with it!" Also, I presume the stigma was more pronounced back then. People would be more afraid to confront it, admit it, deal with it. And I presume services were less. Fewer treatments.

@JoyfulSilence I was gonna write something ssimilar, but I'll just join this comment instead 👍

Gun violence, out of control police, Covid, and Trump all created slot of stress. It's going to take decades to recover from. 34% of the population in the USA is obviously delusional and dangerous.

there is less stigma - so maybe there is less denial and mor treatment.

today it isn't "what's your sign?"
it's "what's you diagnosis?"
@Pretzel literally no one says that

@PepsiColaP yeah I know - it was a joke
Ignorance is bliss, as a child, you do not pick up on that type of thing. Mental illness has always been bad, but people have to hide it because of how shitty society is.

I would say that seems an accurate assessment. Or maybe there’s just an increased awareness about it nowadays.

I imagine it has been always been there, but we did not talk about it when I was growing up.
Canuckle · 51-55, M
I agree with both statements.

I think it's just become more acceptable to talk about
