I had the privilege of working for some years, with Selma Koch
The bra master of New York fashion. Everyone I brought to her whether tiny or large was treated to a very scientific methodology. First the harness,, Itself fitted carefully for shoulders and such. Then, each cup was also carefully measured and fit.
Wether Aor triple F The results seemed worth it.
Selma is gone now I am sorry to say. She was a spectacular engineer

I'm not sure that is a solution which works for women with macromastia...
Crypitika · 36-40, M
My fiancee has tons of problems finding one that's affordable. Most of the time one bra costs $40-$60.
Roteampelbremser · 61-69
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Right! Even if I pay $50 for a bra it doesn’t even last me a year. The straps are always loose. The material rips.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@Jenny1234 That’s insane
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
What brand do you buy?@TurtlePink
AceWarbringer · 41-45, M
Online retailers. these will all need the ".com"
levanabratique
evasintimates
lumingerie
None of them are cheap as far as I can tell. Its the labor costs that are killing it.
Figure 2-3 hours per bra, and a skilled seamstress making 18-20, doesnt leave a lot of room for good material. So I'm not surprised bras don't last a long time. 😕

@AceWarbringer how do you know all this
AceWarbringer · 41-45, M
@Amanda422 educated guesswork.
It's all about endprice and profit. So, a 100 dollar bra costs 90 to make. That's 10 profit. Out of that 90 you can figure 75% is in labor. So it costs 60-65$ in labor.
After watching people sew jeans and other stuff online using sewing machines, with all material cut up and sized, it's fast. So figure and hour in cutting things up. And An hour putting it together into a bra.
So the labor comes out to about 30 dollars an hour. Part of that is chunked into electric power, taxes and the like.
I work a skilled, trained position. So I would expect a skilled seamstress to make about the same I do in a mass production sense.
This is also why Wal-Mart bras are only 15$. Chinese slave labor.
Its also why custom bras are hideously expensive. Ive heard 300$ plus from friends.
Plus a bit of Google for the websites.

I don’t even know where to get a hood bra anymore. All of them fall apart or don’t have enough support. I don’t want wire either. I don’t want to spend $100 either. I really need a proper fitting too

@Amanda422 The brand is specialized in extra huge sizes, both to band width and cup sizes. They reside and manufacture in Poland
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Roteampelbremser ok thanks for letting me know. I’m not big so I will likely not have use for them.
I say let the girls go free! Why must we wear them? For others to not see them swaying freely. Who decided it wasn't attractive?? Of course the other half of our species tends to sexualize and gawk at them 'cause they moved. I say SO WHAT if you can play hacky sack with them!!!!
bijouxbroussard · F
@fernie2 Speaking totally for myself, bouncing around is uncomfortable, damnit ! I’m less concerned about how it looks, but to me it doesn’t feel good. 😝
@bijouxbroussard I hear that a lot.

nope 🤣

I would suppose that, for you, the ever-increasing cup size is the real issue, because you could get a custom bra, but then you are different in some amount of time...
Is that right?
Is that right?
meggie · F
Yes. I go to the Marks and Soencer sales and sometimes they have my size so I get a few then. None of the other shops do my cup size.

Well i can understand your dilemma if your avatar is a genuine reflection on your chest
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Unless it’s a huge cup size I don’t think price would matter
Jordan420 · 56-60, F
Shock Absorbers have large sizes
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Go to Torrid or Maruce

The only cool thing about having grown up with “old lady” brands (Bali, Olga, Lilyette) is that they last. If you can find your size in clearance, and you’re not too hard on them, you’ll have them forever.

Imagine buying her bras lol
