Hmmm. The nicest and smartest person I know is an atheist, and we should understand that atheism can also represent hope and salvation in eternal life. It must be the other kind of atheist that irks you.

The part about a hat in their soul I just don't get.

I kind of loathe those who push God on this site. They go even as far as to send unsolicited conversion propaganda, and block people if a crazy idea is even politely questioned. I do have friends who believe.

Agreed that the self-righteous bro-atheist thing is insufferable, and I say this as an atheist who owns a fedora (to wear with a suit when I play with a jazz band damnit).

For me it's the arrogant suburbanite who likely runs a homeowner's association. The kind of people who are so wholly dedicated to the concept of normalcy that they have contempt and hatred for the weirdos, are probably creepily overprotective of their asshole kids, and so forth.
