Why do people feel like it is the most important thing to be in a relationship or always dating?

Because they have no individuality

People that depend on somebody else for their own happiness!

maybe.... because dating or relationship makes them happy...

Beats me... it's never as good as one hopes for.

Social norms; social pressure. Who doesn't want the kiss at midnight on New Year's Eve? Who doesn't want the top of the Empire State Building on Valentines? We've all been conditioned to idealize these things and they all feed into the relationship construct.

Because dealing with life alone sucks, but they fail to realize its even worse with someone that you dont care about that much.

wanting that feeling of security

Some of us don't.

Try being single for several years then see if your opinion doesn't change.
