Why do people feel like it is the most important thing to be in a relationship or always dating?

Well, I suppose people just don't like relationships. I know one of my aunts was that way, she was single most of if not all of her life.

It didn't have a happy ending, she wasn't a particularly nice person and died essentially alone.
