The 10-step, exposure therapy route. Basically, write a list with ten points. At number one, you write something you think you could do, but definitely don't want to. Make each and every point down to ten more difficult and unappealing, with ten being something you definitely don't think you can ever do.

Why stop? I mean I understand about phobias. I know that certain bacteria are essential to our well being, but fearing things like flu virus, or flesh eating virus, or germs that cause hepatitis or other illness, is not unreasonable. It's one reason I hate shaking hands.
