Can someone explain to me what the Black Lives Matter organization is about and why some people are so upset about it?

Firespirit · 26-30, M
well they are a racist organisation and have created a racial divide unseen since the 50s for example the Dallas shooter or the latest kidnapping and hate crime against that disabled kid
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@UnparalleledMonster: The whole organisation is based off white killing blacks at high rates which is not even close to truth so its based on a lie. and beyond that if a black person gets shot for what ever reason they riot no matter if they were in wrong.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firespirit:

I think it's based on killing black men who are unarmed. surrendered or fleeing.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@UnparalleledMonster: Could be but that is even false sure it happens but rarely
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
Black people in parts of the US are being discriminated against by an institutionally racist police and criminal justice system, with guns. Because of this many black men are being shot dead either while being completely innocent or while running from a petty crime.

Black lives matter is not trying to suggest that other lives do not matter, it's an attempt by the black community - hopefully with the support of people from other ethnic backgrounds - to highlight this issue and stop the unnecessary deaths of black people at the hands of the police.

People don't like it because they either see it as a way of suggesting that black lives are more important than others, or because they don't understand how much of a privilege is it to be white in parts of the US. They think that black people - or people of any other race - being given more power and freedom is a bad thing because it is being taken away from them, but white people - including me - have enjoyed privilege for too long, it's time for things to be equal.

@ChasingBrainBros: Of course you can find examples of young black men shot by cops. That's obvious. That does not equate to institutional racism. Since you're so caught up on me having to prove my case while you can make whatever claims you want, here you go. We'll see if you have the courage and honesty to actually look at them. I doubt it.

And before you whine about the sources because it's not HuffPo or the NYT, all articles are very well documented, too the point that they link directly to the raw data. They're not making unsubstantiated claims like you're usual sources do.
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
@Sicarium: The first and third articles are in conservative publications. I'm not reading them, and I wouldn't expect you to read through and trust anything in a biased liberal publication.

The second is a genuinely fascinating read. I've looked up the study too and I'm going to have a proper read through later.

Answer me this though, if you could live in a completely equal country, would you want that regardless of the cost?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@ChasingBrainBros: Regardless of the political leanings, the articles are well documented and, like I said, link directly to the raw data. If you will not read them, it is due to your own intellectual cowardice. And that is the problem. The evidence to completely refute everything you're saying is out there, but you will not see it because you only care about ideology and agendas. You are not interested in truth. So you will continue spreading a false narrative.

No, I wouldn't. The only way you can ensure a completely equal society is to remove all traces of individualism, at every level. I will never support that. I will fight against it. Literally.

It's an organization that riots only when white police officers shoot black men. I'm upset about it because they don't care much about black on black violence in the black community even though they shout black lives matter. Plus blm is a racist organization considering the fact they attack white people on the streets when rioting.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
It's racist crap. All lives matter.
sweetiepiehuggs · 41-45, F
@UnparalleledMonster: when people from that movement go out and kill an innocent white man because he's a cop they are saying exactly that. Its not about cops and blacks anymore its about blacks and Whites. Its sad. There were some corrupt cops but not all of them are bad. Just not like all blacks are bad. But if BLM keeps on with their hate and violence things will never get better.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@sweetiepiehuggs:

Are people shooting cops and abusing special needs kids representative of the blm organization in general?
Or are those examples of extreme behavior that is not condoned?
sweetiepiehuggs · 41-45, F
I don't know what they condone. I think it started off as a good organization that wanted change. But there has been no structure. Now we have a lot of violent people in BLM spreading violence. Have you seen the videos? Its not just a few either. I think BLM has become an excuse for many to do bad things. There reasoning has been lost.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
They're racist
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@UnparalleledMonster: think about it. Why would they be upset about people being upset at an obvious racist act upon their part? They're racist. It's instilled into their brain. They relay it as normal because they were raised that way. They were raised to be racist and because they see it as normal they find no fault in what they do
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@DeluxedEdition:

Sorry what?
1) you'll have to clarify which racist act you're talking about
2)
Why would they be upset about people being upset at an obvious racist act upon their part?
I don't think that was logically coherent. Can you elaborate?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@UnparalleledMonster: I just really can't comprehend how my statement wasn't coherent. Maybe you should try reading it again.
abe182 · 46-50, M
They are for killing cops.
NorthernRoses · 26-30, F
"Black Lives Matter" is a movement for black rights. It started after an unarmed guy called Trayvon Martin was killed by police and left rotting in the street, if I remember correctly. People got tired of the lack of media coverage and the "black lives matter less" mindset Americans often seem to have (black kid being killed by police VS white kid being killed by police, stuff like that). It's anti-racism.

Some people are upset about it because they're A. missing the point or B. Racist.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Firespirit:

What? How is anti racism anti white?
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@Sicarium: This guy 😁
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@UnparalleledMonster: Most people or groups who claim to be anti racism are mostly promoting multiculturalism and take down anything even remotely pro white people like the group antifa area prime example as they are just a violent as any gang.

@voyelle:

So because some people do bad things in its name, the whole organization is nothing but thugs?
So because some democrat voters behaved so badly after the election, the democratic party is nothing but thugs.

Crack down? How? Again, they already distance themselves from people who act this way in their name. They're not police or military or even government. How exactly should they "Crack down" on these people?

Can I make it simple for you? Tell a member of BLM that "all lives matter" and see what their response is. That should tell you everything you need to know.
katielass · F
Beside the fact that it was born out of a lie, it might be because they chant kill the cops. No decent person can respect that.

Cierzo · M
Because they put murders by policemen of a certain race of citizens of a certain race as a much more vile act than any other murder. For being racist.
Cierzo · M
@UnparalleledMonster: They do not think it may be disproportionate because te number of crimes committed by blacks regarding the wholw American population is disproportionate?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Cierzo: I think they're upset by killings of unarmed and/or surrendered or fleeing black men
Cierzo · M
@UnparalleledMonster: It is upsetting and unacceptable that unarmed people are killed by policemen. But instead of wondering why the causes of the issue as a whole and try to find solutions, they try to make it appear as a 'white cops hate black people' thing.
retrowaves · 31-35, F
it's one of the many race baiting cancers in America, further dividing the people
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
lol sorry, wrong thread.
That makes much more sense
retrowaves · 31-35, F
@UnparalleledMonster: no...black lives matter. i answered this question ^ lol
retrowaves · 31-35, F
