🚴‍♂️ WHICH COUNTRIES WILL WIN MEDALS IN OLYMPICS CYCLING EVENTS? 🚴‍♂️ [I Notice No One Gripes About Small Speedos In The Olympics]

🥇Welcome to SW Olympic Predictions!🥇

🔥By @adorbz and @NerdyPotato🔥

Write below all the countries that you think will win a medal in these events! You'll collect points every time they do.

Countries that don't normally win many medals are worth more points, but be careful - if you predict a country and they don't win anything, you lose points!

🤑 If you want, you can also predict how many medals each country will get - if you get those right, you win bonus points! 🤑

You can predict as many countries as you like! But you won't get any points for your country if they have already won a medal in this sport before your prediction was made.

With the road cycling event so close to the end of the Tour de France it will depend who has any legs left.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SageWanderer Well, some of them quit the tour early... I think they have a leg up.

But I saw the circuit yesterday, there are 5 climbs, and some of them are pretty hard.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 I wonder how many quit because of crashes? And have they healed? Either way it should be interesting as everyone seems pretty equal except for Pogacar who may be feeling post tour letdown?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SageWanderer There were a few guys that also just wanted to help their team out in the beginning, and go for Gold in the olympics. Early in the tour, things are fairly flat, Belgians and Dutch cyclists do well on a flat surface, once things start going up and down a lot of them just quit because they have other competitions in mind.

Most famous one that comes to mind is Vanderpoel. I'm pretty sure he stopped somewhere in the half, even while having the Yellow Jersey for a couple of days.

I'm not sure if Evenepoel did the entire thing.

@Kwek00 I have to admit that there is not as much interest in the individual cyclists with me anymore. The scandals of the Armstrong era have left a sour taste for me to follow it closely. If anything I hope for surprises and like to see a fantastic performance from some unknown.

@SageWanderer I'm from Belgium... It's kinda hard not to get a glimpse of cycling over here. But I'm not really a big fan of the entire sport either. But it's just big out here, so it's part of the cultural DNA I guess.

I just know that Mountainbike and Cyclo-Cross for males is probably going to go to Vanderpoel. It would almost be a tragedy if he doesn't make it, because he's been looking foward to Tokyo for a long while. I think you can find interviews of him talking about Tokyo since 2018 or something. It has this mythical status in his head, and he really has set his mind on it. And he got the leggs to pull both off.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SageWanderer Scratch that, there is apperently no cyclocross on the olympics. I think Vanderpoel will win the road then too. That's my guess.
@Kwek00 it’s either him or van Aert doing the mountain biking.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Van Aert competing in Mountainbike???
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Nah, I just looked, he doesn't ride mountainbike... that would be strange all of the sudden.
@Kwek00 i just did.it’s van der Poel going for the mountain biking.
Closest thing to cyclo cross!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Yeah, but Van Der Poel actually rides mountain bike through the year. He likes mountain bike more then cyclo cross, at least according to hist interviews. But he also likes variety. He and Van Aert are a class of their own. Since COVID 19 put some of the cobblestones on delay, I hope we'll see them both in Paris-Roubaix in September!!! That's my favourite race.
@Kwek00 i’d forgotten we hadn’t had that .Channels available in the UK rarely show mountain biking.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales We never see mountainbike either.

Cobblestone classics aren't mountainbike, that's just road cycling.
@Kwek00 i know,,,,i am a bit of cycling addict. Was delighted when Eurosport decided to show all the cyclo cross in the Winter.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales oh, I didn't know they did that on Eurosport too... I watch most of it on the Belgian National Broadcasting network. But part of it is in commercial hands and I'm not going to pay extra. I also don't watch all the races, but when it's on I can have some fun.

I also don't watch all the cycling on the road. I did watch the end of the Tour the France this week but that's about it. And I watch Paris Roubaix, I even record it sometimes... it's just that good.

Cobblestone classics are:

E3 Harelbeke

Gent–Wevelgem

Tour of Flanders

Paris–Roubaix
