Polls suggest that NBA baseketball, is the 4th most popular sport in the US, (after NHL hockey), but is the 2nd most reported sport on ESPN.

Is this example affirmative action?

ESPN is a business. Businesses will act in the most profitable manner. Below is a breakdown of sports by revenue generated. Basketball is $1.2 billion larger than hockey, and this study is just the sports teams(It's hard to acquire free research on entire markets). I do appreciate the initiative and creativity you've put into feeling persecuted though.

@Ax17x7: Then what do you mean Affirmative Action? Do you mean like a positive feedback loop or self-fulfilling prophecy?
@Absurdist: I mean, is the NBA disproportionately reported, based on popularity because it consists of mostly black people?

Its a joke dude, please don't take it too seriously. 🙄

It's hard to tell nowadays. Satire and reality are too mixed. And no, my bet is they cover it because it generates way more revenue.

@Ax17x7: Fair enough, in that case, I totally missed it. Have you seen what people post here??? Its hard to know what people are joking about! :)
@Pherick: Fair enough.

I am serious, though, that the basketball does seem to be the 4th most popular sport in the States, but the 2nd most reported on ESPN.

@Ax17x7: I have no doubt it is, I wonder if thats because of the sweet 16? They tend to ramp up coverage and that particular end of the season tends to last a while. Plus they cover college basketball, and I don't think they cover college football or hockey and whatnot at all really.

Lol, prolly because the left loves to promote global sports like soccer as well.
