Can Spurs win the Premiership?

This is the best Spurs team that I can remember. I think they will fall just short but today's result makes it interesting

There aren't many things i wish for.
But having been a supporter since '72.
I would just LOVE to see us win at least ONE league title in my lifetime.
There are some great players in that side but even with a Chelsea hiccup like today, can't see us overtaking them.
I don't know which is worse to be honest !
Knowing that you'll never be good enough (a la EVERY manager since Bill Nicholson !)Or getting SO close and STILL not having enough !!

At least you will finish about Arsenal

If you can keep this team together and add to it in the summer, I think you have as much chance as anyone next season.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I'm not counting any chickens on finishing above Arsenal.
I may not like Arsenal but i have huge respect for what Arsene Wenger has done for that club.
Anyone who dismisses their chances underestimates him !
The current team ? Yes i suppose so. Although it does raise the question.
If you want to buy-in real European quality. At what point do you let guys like Dier; Rose; Eriksen and Ali go ?
Can you build a team around them ??
Maybe. But it would take some convincing to get quality European players in knowing the chances are they'll be sat on the bench much of the time.

@Picklebobble2: With virtually guaranteed Champions League football next season, I think any incoming player must expect some rotation and that they'll get a chance. I'd add Lloris and Walker into your list too. You might be banging the goals in but you're also keeping clean sheets.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Lloris is awesome ! Whenever you hear him interviewed he's so chilled out.
Walker is immense. His game has come on dramatically.
And whatever it is they're doing for Son at the moment.......It's like he's suddenly remembered how to play international football !!!
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2: Walker is one of the most improved players for me. I wasn't sure about him last season but I really am now. Lloris I've always had down as a class act. Good manager as well. I'd love it if you won it this season.
@GlassDog: more important than any player is retaining Poch.

@Babylon: I think so too. I like the way he does things. He seems more equipped for the Premiership than certain world-beating managers.
@GlassDog: I just love how he celebrates each goal with the same excitement, and a proper hug for every player as they come of the pitch.
I love him

Well my opinion on that man has changed somewhat the last two years.
I figured him to be one of those "Look what i can achieve with next to nothing" kind of guys.
But, there's no doubt he knows how to train folk well. He knows tactics well. Jury is still out on whether he knows enough at European level.....but i guess we'll see !
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Babylon: Hehe, I'll credit Klopp with the same. Some of the players looked really uncomfortable with it at first but there's no doubt he's built a team mentality.
@GlassDog: I think Klopp has done ok, but I still not sure about him.
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2: Completely understandable given that he was at a selling club like Southampton. I felt the same as you, but he's impressed me. What he's doing is clearly working. We'll see about Europe.
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Babylon: I think Klopp and Guardiola have had a bit of a shock that in the Prem, any team can beat any other team. They've been used to dominance. I do very much like him, though, and will give him time.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Babylon: I think Klopp is an awesome manager !
Whether or not he has the right personnel..........?
But. Managers live and die by their signings !
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2: We're very short of players and I don't rate our defence except for Clyne. Or our strikers, really. We're just a midfield.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@GlassDog: But the question is, do you think they'll come good with time. Or do you think they're just not guaranteed top three ???
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2: @GlassDog: I think its hard because the Prem is so competitive now. All top six teams have decent managers and a fair amount of money. Klopp did great at Dortmund but there was only one team in that league with a bigger budget. In England there are four.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Burnley123: Many a decent manager has suffered Premier League blues. Not because they weren't decent managers, just because they may have been a bit unlucky in not being given enough time to turn it round.
Lord knows we've seen a fair few at White Hart Lane over the years !
@Picklebobble2: it was a new manager every season for a while...do you remember Gross?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Babylon: It seems weird that Spurs are a model of stability and good management whereas Man Utd are quite chaotically run. It seems wrong somehow, like a strange reversal of football physics.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Babylon: Yes.....Sadly !
How about the manager who was never quite the manager ?
Jacques Santini ??
@Picklebobble2: or Ramos 😖
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Burnley123: I suspect that having had a successful structure in place that saw the likes of the 'Fergie babes' and ten years subsequent growth and profit. It's a salutory lesson in how NOT to do business !
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2: I think things run in cycles. Obviously the Glazers were a bad influence. They under-spent early on as the team was growing old together and Fergie was still working miracles. Success breed complacency.
