Hate To Say I Told You So

How odd, Imane Khelif has withdrawn from a boxing competition immediately after it announced that all competitors must have mandatory sex testing (administered via a cheek swab), to check eligibility in to their category 🤔

You'd think this boxer would welcome the chance to prove to the world 'she' is not a man.

It’s been said that she was born female or "assigned female" (not clear what that means). She has XY chromosomes which are considered male, but was born with female body parts ? I guess these questions could be answered; if she wants to continue to compete, she may have to forgo privacy concerns.

@bijouxbroussard Generally understood to mean a DSD, of which there are several types (that exclusively affect either men or women - meaning only men have one particular DSD, while a woman would have another). At birth he may have to all intents and purposes have been observed and recorded to be female, and even bought up as such, but it would have become evident at puberty that this was incorrect. I've said before I have sympathy, but the right thing to do is not take advantage of that by using it to endanger women.

And on your second point, absolutely. It's entirely non-invasive and conclusive. All other boxers will be undergoing the same, so it's not like he's been singled out.

@bijouxbroussard It can happen, read about Erik Schinegger who competed as Erika until he discovered he was genetically male (and immediately anounced this and stopped competing)
