I’m so lost! Isn’t NFL just for the U.S?! How does New England have a team??????

Ontheroad · M
Huh? The New England Patriots are a Boston, MA team and New England is an area in the northeast United States comprised of 7 states.
@come2gether Nothing wrong with that since New England is a relatively small area in size, five of them, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Massachussetts, all could fit collectively inside Maine, and all six could fit into Oregon with much land to spare.

@Ontheroad ... and this Children is why we finish our homework, because the lessons are correct.
@come2gether New England is very provincial. Providence is only 50 miles from Boston but it seemed so far when I was growing up. lol.

Don’t worry , I live in a part or state in New England and sometimes even the weather forecasters seem to forget where the northeast part of the USA is. They seem to think USA stops way before you get to Maine 😂 or we live out to sea somewhere when they say a storm has gone out to sea . 😂

Believe it or not New England is part of the USA and Maine is both a part of the USA and part of New England .
@Repete I think they think the US stops at Manhattan Island and the boroughs, at least that's what was a common thought when I lived in Northern Delaware from 2001 to 2005, and they considered New Jersey a statewide travesty as well.

British Columbia (commonly abbreviated as BC) is the westernmost province of Canada

Not eastern USA!
Tumbleweed · F
@JasonH Where are you from?
swirlie · 31-35, F
Because New England represents a region comprised of 6 States, not just a singular State. And besides, that region I speak of is where all the life rafts washed ashore along the eastern seaboard when all the Brits fled England 250 years ago which they ended up naming 'New England', since Old England had failed them miserably and they wanted to start over with a fresh deck of cards.

The obvious question to ask of course, is how is that bright idea to flee a narcissistic sociopath King working out so far for those chaps?
@swirlie More like 400 years ago, but we get your gist.

@NativePortlander1970

It was actually 20,000 years ago when the Clovis people and the pre-Clovis peoples landed on the shores of what's now known as the USA.

And I get your gist as well that you're just trying your best to set the record straight to make it clear who's absolutely right and who's categorically wrong here, which by the way, is a very prominent British pastime in modern times which would suggest that you NativePortlander, are an authentic British descendant by your very nature.
@swirlie True, I am 67.5% British and Irish, the rest being 25% Swedish and 12.5% Cherokee, the land bridge in the Bering Straight from Asia into North America was roughly 12,000 years ago.
