Has Dodgeball always been called Dodgeball?

I remember playing Dodgeball way back in 84 when living in Turkey. Back then we called it Slaughterball.

Back in the 70s when I played in grade school, we called it Dodgeball, and I was actually pretty good. 🙅🏽

We were more polite/less aggressive in Canada. We called it Excuse-me-you're-in-the-way-ball.
@SW-User I thought it was called Sorryball up there 🤔

In the upper Midwest part of the US, it was called Dodgeball in the mid-1960s.

It was originally called Deathball & they used bowling balls with razor sharp spikes covering them, not plastic bouncy balls. Like real men.

@SamInAZ With todays generation I'm surprised they don't call it cotton ball.🤣
