Long distance running. I had the endurance needed for success but not the speed. I did walk on at a Division 1 school for cross country, but two of my teammates ran the 1500m in the 1976 Montreal Olympics and another was the first sub-4 minute miler in the state. I could not compete at that level, but it was fun to run with them and keep up in workouts.

Oh over the years I've wanted to be competent at lots of things.
I used to run middle distance in my teens for an athletic club. But soon got to see people of my age but with a different build who were in a different class to whatever i was doing.
I've played Rugby and Football and Cricket at County level. But again, wasn't in the same league as many others i either played with or against.
I'm a huge admirer of marathon runners and long distance swimmers.
That's a different level of physicality altogether.
Yes. I'd want to be able to have endurance i think.

@Picklebobble2 I ran the 100 in 13 flat. 2.5 too slow.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@SW-User oh that would frustrate me no end !
To know you weren't far off but just not quite there....

@Burnley123 It's straining as hell 😅 much better seen from behind the TV screen than from the pitch if you ask me

Long distance cycling. I can manage 100km right now, but I would like to be able to at least double that

You have to become one with the fish, Bob. Next time you go out fishing, try speaking softly to the water you're floating in and that message will become transmitted to the fish. But if you're way too manly to talk to the fish in the water, then just bring a smelt net and flashlight and do all your fishing at night.

I don't really think much about it anymore, but I'll always love baseball. I played it from age 5 to 22 basically.

What would you do with your gold medal for sprinting, other than use it to shore up the short leg of your coffee table?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SandWitch If it were real gold -- sell it!

@ChipmunkErnie
What about gold-plated aluminum with a ribbon attached to it?
