Cassius Clay refusing induction into the US Armed Forces. He was stripped of his championship for 3 years citing his religious beliefs and claiming Conscience Objector status only to be reinstated by the US Supreme Court. He resumed fighting winning the Heavyweight Championship twice thereafter.
