Tony Esposito Passed Away Today

Helluva goalie
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Pancreatic cancer is not a nice disease. RIP Tony. Not a hockey fan but I do remember Tony. Along with Johnny Baur, Jacque Plante, Roge Vachon, Glen Hall etc. It takes special kind of man to stop frozen chunks of rubber going 100 mph for a living.

@hippyjoe1955 And every time you make a mistake a red light goes on and 20,000 people stand up and boo you
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 And no protection…
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Quimliqer I do remember guys like Baur who never wore a mask. Tough does not begin to describe them.

Bummer. Great goalie and brother was a trip.

He still does color on the Lightning radio. If you have Sirius radio you can hear him
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Slade And Phil is still a trip, occasionally makes a slip into hockey language, does most of the home games now
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
One of the famous Esposito brothers

A great goalie. I share a birthday with him, though he was 12 years older than I.
RIP Tony Esposito.

Sorry to hear this. He was a fixture in Chicago when expansion gave Minnesota a team.
